New Gadget - Sony Playstation 3

Sony Playstation 3

This was a full weekend. I bought a new gadget, a Sony Playstation 3, which is actually not just another gadget but rather a full fledge media/computing/gaming rig. At least I hope so. I already have PS3 buddies, ps3 downloads, and what not. And all of this in between breaks of Grand Theft Auto IV. Ain’t it cool ?

The gaming experience exceeded what I was hoping for, but the SIXAXIS so far seems to kinda suck. I’m only playing it on a 22″ inch Half HD screen, which isn’t that bad. All around, I’m pretty happy with my new kickass setup. I’ll try to put some Ubuntu Linux magic running on it, but only when I get a break from GTA. I’m still deciding whether to plugin an external hard-drive or to stream from my Linux server, so I can watch some movies/tv-series. But all of this in later posts probably.

    :) My dear psn buddy; It’s always nice to see adapted versions of “I have a Dream”, or I have a PS3 posts (would better suite the purpose if it was a DreamCast). The problem with having windows-resilient based personalities is that you don’t get the full integrated features of multimedia networking. Check out this link: http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=98415. It seems to be possible to stream from a linux machine but of course people complain it’s not stable. If you test it, make a post to let us know. (btw, i’m using media player to stream to the PS3; i feel very happy whenever I connect my portable HD to any pc in the house and go sit in the couch without worrying about anything else)

    I must say, you are becoming a gadget boy. Just like our friend Miguel! If it lives and has some degree of coolness, then you must have it! :)
    Having said that, i must agree with the fact that the PS3 seems to be a really cool system. Not only does it allow us to play some nice and wonderful looking games (not including GTAIV here) but also is a really powerful computer when running Linux.
    Congratulations on your new buy.

    PS: How well does the 22” monitor handle the PS3 graphics?
